VOLUNTEERING

The question is often asked, “Who are the individuals who dedicate over many, many hours each year to assist staff and residents at our facility?”  There are quite a few. Numbers aside, they are people like you and I, but they seem to have a little extra something … they dedicate and give part of themselves to make our facility better and the lives of residents richer.

Volunteers assist in numerous ways. The following are just a few examples of what they do to help us grow:

·         Assist with bus trips, pub afternoons, arts and crafts, gardening and other leisure programs

·         Show movies to residents

·         Take residents for walks

·         Lead worship services for residents

·         Visit residents on a one to one basis

·         Organize and lead bingo

·         Deliver mail to residents

·         Coordinate library service

·         Help with special events

·         Assist with fundraising

·         Entertain residents through music

·         Offer items for sale through “Evelyn’s Boutique”

·         Check residents hearing…. and much, much more!

We truly could not do what we do without volunteers. For the rest of us (staff, family, friends and residents) when we take a second to think of where we would be without volunteers, we certainly would not be as complete, nor as rich. As an organization, we value the contributions of volunteers and say “THANK YOU” to them for the work they have done throughout the year.
